Role Checklist Version 3: Participation and Satisfaction (RCv3), 2019

Authors:
Patricia J Scott PhD, MPH, OT, FAOTA

Dr. Patricia Scott has established the Role Checklist Version 3 (RCv3) as a measure of participation for use in clinical practice, and in health systems as a basis for client centered treatment and to reflect the outcome of occupational treatment services. The RCv3 is a one-page measure of: participation in 10 roles, satisfaction with that participation and reasons for non-participation. The RCv3 is highly reliable, including for alternate methods of administration. Validity is strong, both concurrent, and construct. And, the RCv3 is sensitivity to change.

This is an international assessment supported by work of Scott’s colleagues in Norway, Switzerland, Japan, Sweden, Jordan, China, Morocco, and Iceland. Their purpose is to strengthen the RCv3 as a cross-cultural measure of participation. This working group is known as the International Role Alliance for the study of Participation (IRAP). Individually and collectively, their research has been disseminated and has dozens of published research International presentations on the RCv3.
